Popcorn is one of my all-time favorite snacks! Popcorn is a whole grain and good source of fiber. Snacking on popcorn can physically and mentally satisfy the toughest craving.

Feeling a little hungry but not too hungry for a meal? Popcorn!

Or maybe you want to munch on something after dinner, but you are physically satisfied? Time for popcorn!

Want to watch a movie with family and enjoy extra family?

Time for popcorn!

Make Your Own

It is SUPER simple to make your own popcorn with a few ingredients. It was during in the pandemic that my kids and I tried making our popcorn in a brown paper lunch bag.

We were shocked at how simple it was to make at home, and it was fun to see what you make come together in making popcorn.

What You Need

All you need is a brown paper lunch bag, canola oil (or coconut oil) and popcorn kernels.

After the popcorn is popped, a closed container is great to help fully season all the popcorn kernels.

Get Kids in the Kitchen

By getting kids involved in the kitchen, it helps them try new foods AND gives them a boost confidence.

Homemade Popcorn

Equipment

  • 1 paper bag

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup corn kernels

Instructions

  • Place corn kernels in a bag. Fold the top of the bag over to twice to help seal the bag. Place the bag on its side and microwave for 2 to 4 minutes.

Once the popcorn begins to pop, listen closely and stop when about 2 to 3 seconds go by without hearing kernels popping.

Remove the popcorn and carefully remove from the microwave. Be aware of the steam escaping from the bag.

Add seasonings and oil to bag or place popcorn in a container with lid and season popcorn. It is fun for the kids to shake up the popcorn once seasonings and oil have been added.
