Simple, healthy and fun sure describes these little shakers.  If you are able to have a variety of chopped veggies it may be more enticing for the kiddos to get excited about eating more colorful vegetables!  Plus, these shaker salads are fun to shake up.  I will say my daughter did enjoy them more once they were refrigerated for a bit.  The flavors seemed to all meld together and then we both could not stop eating and our two jars we made for the video were gone in less than 24 hours. 

KIDS MAKE! Pasta Veggie Salad Shakers

Make-your-own salad! Build a variety of colorful vegetables paired with your favorite pasta noodles and dressing.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rotini pasta noodles, cooked (any variety)
  • 4 cups baby spinach, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 4 mini cucumbers, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup dressing

Instructions

  • In a 12-ounce jar, place one to two tablespoons of dressing. Next, add chopped veggies. Top with pasta noodles. Place lid on jar and shake well. *May want to refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for ingredients to meld together.

This dressing good ‘ole basic dressing that is one I can always count on for a pasta salad or my favorite cowboy caviar dip. No sugars added and moderate in sodium for a bottled dressing.   Just a fyi, a low-sodium food is defined as 140 milligrams or less.  This is not too far off those guidelines.  Many bottle dressings are pretty high if you start looking at sodium on the label. 

And you can add a source of protein to this salad for a simple, satisfying lunch! I had some leftover grilled chicken and topped it with this salad and it was delightful! Enjoy!
