Well, today we are celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday! My kids at school made special Cat in the Hat pictures and I have been seeing the commercials on T.V. for the Cat-abration one-hour special this Monday on PBS!
I love Dr. Seuss and really love watching Cat in the Hat with my kids because I always end up learning something (as I just commented to the family today about some bamboo facts I learned, haha). Yes, Cat in the Hat is in my top 5 favorite kid T.V. shows!
So . . . I made some green eggs and ham! I just scrambled up two eggs in a coffee mug along with chopped spinach and ham. Place in the microwave for 2 minutes. Top with a sprinkle of cheese and put back in the microwave for an additional 15 to 20 seconds. Viola, breakfast in a mug! Yum! And I really love cooking eggs in a mug because they are 10 times more fluffier than in a bowl! Try it!
TIP: Don’t put in the candle when the egg is piping hot. Duh me, I guess I was in a hurry to take some pictures.
And some simple Cat in the Hat fruit treats! I think my kiddos just ate the strawberries but it was fun! We even shared our treats with our friends at a play-date yesterday!
We will be reading some great Dr. Seuss classics here and by the way . . . Green Eggs and Ham is a wonderful, wonderful book to read to children because of the great message: try new food, you just may end up liking them! Whenever I read this to my kids I ask them, “Was there a food that you were scared to try and ended up liking it anyway?” They usually reply with a different fruit or vegetable or . . . my daughter always brings up a time when one of her friends were scared to try some food at our house (poor gal, I’m glad they come back, ha!). We (my daughter and I) just love singing Yo Gabba Gabba’s song to her friends, “Just Try It, You’ll Like It.”
Oh, good ole’ Dr. Seuss! Well, Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! I know my kids and I will be snuggled up watching the special Cat-abration tomorrow, can’t wait!
