As the heat index rises, it is time to cool off with some refreshing snacks. The first thing you may think of is ice cream or a snow cone but why not find some snacks that still provide us with nutrients – energy dense instead of empty calories!
Here are some of my favorites:
Del Monte Fruit Chillers Freeze & Eat Tubes – super refreshing and the ingredients include: pear puree (water, pear puree concentrate), pear juice (water, pear juice concentrate), white grape juice (water, white grape juice concentrate), sugar, boysenberry puree, citric acid, natural flavor, ascorbic acid, dextrose, pectin guar gum, red 40 and blue 1
Beside the coloring it ranks pretty good in my category. Kids love them and great way to gain some vitamin C. Only 55 calories and 13 g carbohydrates per serving.
Frozen fruit! Freeze grapes, bananas, blueberries, anything you want! Make a great cool-down snack! Plus you get the real thing – antioxidant-packed fruit! Ahhhhh . . . . .
Taking frozen fruit to the next level! Chocolate covered frozen bananas! These little guys come in milk or dark chocolate and the perfect size for a frozen treat. The only thing that would make them better is dipped in crushed nuts!
Make your own fruit pop! These little push-up containers are made by Healthy Steps. Fill it up with any of your own juices or fruit, freeze and you will have a delicious healthy snack waiting for you!
Cool off and relax!
