Now I was looking in the cereal aisle in the grocery store the other day and came across a variety of puffed grain cereals. As I turn over the packages and look at the nutrition facts I noticed it was pretty basic nutrients for wholesome food with adequate fiber and nutrition. As I look at the ingredients on the packages, I was pretty impressed – JUST organic puffed whole grain corn and organic puffed whole grain kamut! Each grain contains a couple grams of fiber and some B vitamins!
I thought this would be a fun way to get a different grain into your diet – kamut (ka-moot)! If you haven’t tried them plain – they are just as great too!
So we sweetened up the cereals and added some caramel syrup and baked it – just like caramel corn!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups puffed corn
1 1/2 cups puffed kamut (ka-moot)
1/3 cup caramel syrup or honey
2 tbsp maple syrup
Preparation:
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Heat caramel syrup or honey and maple syrup in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Add cereal and coat thoroughly. Place cereal mixture on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes.
