A Breakfast of Champions
What is the most important meal of the day? Yes, we all know it is breakfast. The meal to jumpstart your metabolism and get you going for the day! Since it is so important, it is important to make time for breakfast. We may be in a rush and out the door and forget about having breakfast, which is fine but what about a granola bar to take on the go?
When you do have a little bit more time here is a great breakfast combo that will have you feeling full all morning long (you won’t be hitting up your co-workers candy dish at 9:30 a.m.).
Oatmeal and Eggs (again do see a pattern? Fiber and protein!)
1 packet Weight Control Instant Oatmeal, maple brown sugar
1/4 cup egg substitute
1 tbsp Kraft Mexican style taco shredded cheese
2 tbsp pineapple salsa – if you haven’t had it, try it! It is so good. There are many varieties out there, just look in your grocery aisle.
Place egg substitute in a microwave-safe bowl (I have soup bowl that has a larger surface area). Microwave on HIGH for about 1 1/2 minutes. Top with cheese and place in the microwave for an extra 10 to 12 seconds or until cheese melts. Top with salsa.
And the grand total is only – 230 calories; 6 g fiber; 582 mg sodium; 14.5 g protein; 34 g carbohydrates; 4 g fat!
There is still room to add more! You can even add a piece of fruit or a yogurt or even a glass of milk!
More filling than regular instant oatmeal – 7 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber. I have even added a tablespoon of flaxseed to add some heart-healthy fats and more fiber!
Add a little spice and flavor to your eggs by using this cheese blend.
