Just because the average person will gain 5-10 pounds during the holiday season – doesn’t mean YOU have too!  Try these simple—yet delicious treats for the holidays.  Just wait there will be more recipes to come!

This recipe looks just like a nacho dip and tastes like a yummy bean dip!  The family will go crazy!

Beany Dip
Developed by Stacy Mitchell, RD, LD
Serving-size: 1/4 cup
All You Need:
1 jar Wild Garden traditional hummus
1 jar salsa
1 can black soybeans, drained and rinsed
All You Do:
1. Mix hummus, salsa and soybeans in a crock-pot.   Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours or on HIGH for 2 hours.                       2. Stir and serve with tortilla chips

Daily nutritional values:
2% vitamin A, 4% vitamin C, 2% calcium, 4% iron
Nutrition information per serving:
60 calories, 3g fat, 0g saturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 190mg sodium, 6g carbohydrates, 2g fiber, 1g sugar, 3g protein.

Seriously!!  Don’t be scared!  I have sampled this on even the pickiest of eaters and they don’t even know it – just don’t tell them!

Black Bean Brownies
Serves 20
All you need
1 box  brownie mix (family size)
1 (15.5-ounce) can black beans, undrained
All you do
1.Open can of beans
2. Place can’s contents, including liquid, in blender. Blend.
3. Mix thoroughly with brownie mix. (No eggs, oil or other ingredients needed.)
4. Place in a greased 9 by 13-inch baking pan.
5. Bake according to package directions. Cool and serve.

0% vitamin A, 0% vitamin C, 0% calcium, 10% iron

Nutrition information per serving:

130 calories, 2.5g fat, 1g saturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 160mg sodium, 26g carbohydrates, 2gfiber, 15g sugar, 2gprotein
